Jasper National Park, Alberta




Threw down the camping gauntlet on the last possible weekend our 3 season gear could handle and spent the September long weekend camping in Jasper. Our meals consisted of large quantities of pita, sausage and chocolate, but those cover the three official camping food groups. Took a 3 hour hike up the side of a mountain to get a great view of the ice fields. In a few years it'll be little more than a big dirt pile beside a fancy building and it was crazy to see the marks in the land where it had been ten, twenty years earlier.
Anette found the 'bluest lake in Jasper' for us and we went for a nice hike there as well. A few kms down from that were the insane Athabasca waterfalls which were alone worth taking the trip out from Edmonton. Great trip and we were both happy to get to the mountains.
