Sandpoint, Idaho
Idaho is a special place for my family our friends. It seems like whoever visits, buys a boat shortly after. In fact, three neighbors and friends have gone out and bought boats after just a few days there.

The beautiful lake Pend Orielle, the lake-like Priest river and the gorgeous surrounding area have been our spot to relax and explore for over 15 years. It looks like a fairly unassuming place to begin with, but whether it's the submarine base, abandoned mine shaft, capistrano turkey sandwhiches at 'Spuds', our new dock, tubing, wakeboarding, coming 'home' to Fox Farms, anchoring at the suspiciously named 'windy point', or just enjoying a bbq dinner on the boat with my parents and our friends - there is no other place like it. Oh yes, and don't forget the hillbillies - they're out in force.
Trips like these have defined the person I am today. Now that Anette has been brought into the 'club' - which seems to hook people like nothing else - I enjoy my time there more than ever seeing everything with a fresh set of eyes.
My dad, up on the wakeboard following a tour de force on the kneeboard. This is definitely one activity I intend to do more of next year. Anette still shys away from the 'hitting the water part', but is something we're going to work on next year. A flat lake, sunny day and thrill of flying across the wake is one of those incredible moments of adrenaline only found while hunting, lets say, a whale with a bejeweled belly.

Our friends the Majchers were able to spend the week down there with us, and despite a little back trouble they had a great time. Nothing beats telling fish stories over drinks at the end of a long day on boating -

Food is a bit of a highlight down there, and when we bought a couple huge racks of beef ribs, our competitive nature was riled up. Everyone wanted to make their own spice mixture and sauce - and in the end, no official winner was declared because all four judges were also in the competition, but the definite loser was the cow.

After many years of near misses, we were able to meet our friends Brendon and Charlene for a few days on the boat and relaxing around the campfire. Here we are at 'Spuds' which is probably the best sandwhich and potato place in the world. Brendon asked what we reccomended and we weren't able to help him much - everything has always been fantastic.

It's gotten harder to find times when we all can make our way down Idaho, but every summer, we manage to fit in at least one or two trips. Anette and I are going to continue doing that (and more if we can!) no matter where we end up.

Dear Brad and Anette,
We are so glad that you and Anette, and your friends, like to come down and be with us there.
Spending time with friends and family in Idaho is special for us too. As Roger says, without people to share it with, it would just be water and dirt.
So, when there is snow on the ground, and we're freezing during the winter - let's just remember those great sunny days when we tubed like crazy people, and our faces and sides ached from smiling and laughing.
Love Mom
