Lisbon and Evora

After a relatively uneventful trip, we lugged our packs into the streets of Lisbon. Initially pasty, tired and about as much of a gringo as you can get - we found our hotel and had a seista.

Didn´t take too long to be revived however, and we spent the next day and a half exploring Lisbon. A couple highlights included a free (and private due to the confusing signage) tour with a prof. of archeology through the 3rd century subterranean roman baths and mosiacs recently found beneath a bank. We also crawled around the Castelo de Sao Jorge which is sorta of a half ruined castle come garden.

We learned a couple things about the city one of them being that if you are white guy carrying a camera apparently you are the world´s largest user of hash, and offered enthusiastic ´promotions and deals´as such a dozen times a day. Also, we figured out how to spot a german tourist. Simply look around until you feel embarrased for someones outfit, and there you are.

For kicks we went on a rollercoaster ride (wooden tram + tight corners and steep hills), and Anette found a 170 y/o pastelerie (pastry/wine shop) and went to town on an unsuspecting pastel de nata.
Today we´re in Evora and are looking forward to the next couple days here. Sorta of a smallish town with a lot of churches and a really well preserved Roman Temple.

One picture is self explanatory and the other a real live pirate!

Hi Brad and Anette...Glad you made it over safe and sound. Your Dad headed to his refuge at the lake right after you left, so we were able to spend some time with your Mom on Saturday (she spent the afternoon with Cooper - he had a blast) and on Sunday for Brunch. We went out to Crystal Ridge and had a look at the condo, currently "in progress." It looks really nice. Arrived home today to sun and 85. We are, however, missing one patio chair, that apparently blew away in a freak storm last week. (Do you know it rained every single day we were in Calgary!)

Thanks for the update. Loved the pastry shot. What's a real live pirate doing on land??

Now what are you doing?

Love, CKC and Oreo

I am so jealous! I am trying to pretend I am there with you through checking your blog from my summer destination: office cubicle.
Have the time of your life!

Allison :)

That pirate needs to turn around and notice that there's a Zara clothiers right behind him.
